First off, it's great that VMPS has a site that we can communicate with each other!!!
Being this is a VMPS site, I'm confident I can find *knolwedgable* people to discuss a pressing issue and find some solution to a very disappointing problem I have. We don't have room for my Tower IIs in the house we just bought! AND, my wife and I are wanting to lean towards video a little more than our setup is currently configured for, which is strictly music 2 channel.
The Towers are being fed by my Hafler 500 which is a combination serving us better than I could ever have hoped for.
They still do fine when playing a DVD, but without the additional information of rear speakers and a center, the system lacks the fuller experience so I need to reconfigure.
I have been thinking of different ways to solve my problem and have only found 1 solution so far. It's a disappointing solution because of the need to lose my awesome Towers but is offset by my desire to replace the sub capabilities of my Towers with the Large Sub w/ MegaWoofers driven by the Hafler which I can, and will, Monoblock.
You may be thinking; "You don't have room for the Towers but you do for the Large Sub?". Kind of, I have room for the sub under a large table in the corner. Not ideal, I agree, but is a reasonable solution given my room size problem.
Please don't misunderstand, migrating to move movie capability is not all with dread. We don't listen to music as much as we once did and we don't watch movies all that often to warrant a big dollar theater system. What we do of each, I still expect clear quality sound, but with the best economic value doing it as possible.
Does anyone have any suggestions/ideas of how to go about trading my great condition oak cabinet Tower IIs for a VLS w/ MegaWoofers. OR any other solutions I might consider???
There's one spot on the side of the cabinet that the movers put a small dent in it (about 1/2" long and 1/8" wide). It's in the side, about a hand widths up from the bottom and right in the wood grain of the oak so you have to feel it to find it. I'm a bit beyond anal about my stuff, so it may be a bigger deal to me than anyone else. It may be repairable but I've been more concerned with doing more damage trying to fix something that cannot readily be found.
Thanks for reading and ideas for solutions!
Andy
